Dearest TBS Family,
Ever wondered why we do the things we do? Why do some people pray one way, and some others pray a different way? Have you ever felt uncomfortable because you were unaware or unsure of what was going on? My personal belief is that every person, every soul, every member of our community has at times been able to answer yes to at least one of these questions.
Whether you attended synagogue, church or a mosque as a child, there were times that you acted or prayed a certain way because “everyone else was doing it.” Look around you at services and you will see a variety of styles. What you will also see are many symbols or symbolic acts that tie us together as a holy community, a Kehillah Kedoshah. It is these symbols that we have or these acts that we participate in that lets us know we belong. And, if you are sitting or standing and wondering why…rest assured, many around you probably have the same question.
