Dearest TBS Family,
The secular new year brings us a new sense of hope for what is possible. We turn our backs to the previous year and look forward to what lies ahead in the upcoming year. This year, however, we are faced with some of the worst wildfires ever faced in US history and the devastation that is being left behind. As we pray for an end to these wildfires, we also pray for all of those who have been affected. As of January 9, there have been at least 5 reported deaths, and many others severely injured. Thousands of firefighters are working up to 48 hour shifts to battle these fires. The fires have already scorched close to 30,000 acres. Thousands of buildings and businesses have been destroyed, including at least 1 Reform Jewish synagogue: The Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center.
